The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the Council meets its current and future objectives by directing and controlling the secretariat in conformity with the Council’s strategy, providing visionary and courageous leadership in the execution of the Council’s objectives.

To effectively and efficiently manage the day to day activities of the secretariat, its physical, human and financial resources to achieve set objectives and ensure obligations to members are met.

Develop and recommend for approval, budgets that support the Council’s long term strategies.

Design internal control systems and Risk Management framework to safeguard the organisation.

Devise appropriate ways of communicating with members and supervise the maintenance of membership lists and databases.

Coordinate the Audit function and follow up on implementation.

Devise and implement investment strategies to achieve the Council’s strategic objectives.

Arrange Committee meetings, compile the Committee papers and record minutes of proceedings.

Develop and maintain healthy relationships with key stakeholders locally, regionally and internationally.

Manage the Council’s procurement system and work towards preservation of the Council’s assets.

Take complete responsibility for the development and acceptance of challenging but realistic objectives and plans by immediate subordinates and help them to achieve desired results.



Must be a holder of a relevant University Degree and a post graduate professional qualification e.g. MBA/MBL.

Possession of a professional insurance qualification will be an added advantage.

At least 8 years relevant experience in the Insurance sector at Senior Management level.

Prefered Skills

Strong knowledge of Insurance Operations and Financial Management.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders.

Must be an experienced decision maker with excellent organisational and leadership skills.

Capacity for maintaining high professional standards.
